Basuki Questioned Legal Basis of Council Meeting Allowance

Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama asks for consideration from Jakarta citizens over request of council meeting allowance by Rp 300 thousand. He also asked for the legal basis of the council request.

If the value is 50 percent, I will realize it. But the rule does not exist

"Just ask to citizens whether they are agree with Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) regarding council meeting allowance. If the value is 50 percent, I will realize it. But the rule does not exist," he exclaimed, Wednesday (2/10).

He went on the say that the letter of Jakarta DPRD Chairman, Prasetio Edi Marsudi, processed to Regional Secretary with a record of the legal basis used.

"It doesn't the rule you know, in which you ask for money to the boss in the meeting. So I will be a very wealthy governor if I always get money at every meeting," he cited.

He assessed, legislative member has received high salary and some allowances, like official car.

"We have paid them with high salary and allowance, but still lazy. My salary is lower than them, but still diligent," he closed.
